Thread starter Dweller Start date Nov 19, Dweller Inconspicuous Supporter. I have been playing around with off camera lighting and dug out my first flash, a Quantaray QDC WA but can not find the user manual for it and am not sure how to put it into slave mode. I will be suing it with a Nikon D70s and a SB Does anyone have a copy of the manual and a few minutes time?

I would sincerely appreciate it. You must log in or register to reply here. Most reactions Similar threads. Replies 3 Views On Christmas eve, I was side by side with a family member who had an XT with the ex. He and it convinced me to return the Quantaray and get the EX. So the Quantaray is going back and the Canon should be here sometime next week.

After all that, I'm finally getting the flash I knew I should have, but didn't want to spend that much. Now I understand why I should. I'm glad I had the chance to try a few cheaper flashes on my XTi though. After all this, I hope the EX delivers as advertised. I'm curious What could the EX do that your quantaray couldn't?

Well you might know better than I, Curtis. I have not read a single negative about the EX. I could have purchased a Sigma Super that you recommend for the same price, but feel that the Canon to Canon match would be best in the long run should I upgrade to another Canon camera.

The quantaray is OK in P mode and full auto, but underexposes often, but not to a major degree. In full manual it's OK and Av and Tv it's not accurate, but it may be my lack of experience. One thing that I notice in a side by side with the EX is that the Quantaray is so damn big! I'll post a review after I get it.

Thanks again Curtis, for all your help. I'll be asking more questions soon, I'm sure. I'm not familiar with the Quantaray units, though that one looks almost exactly like the Promaster DX, minus the secondary light, and has the same guide number and similar features, right down to the snap-on diffuser. Underexposure is a common complaint with Canon's E-TTL flash system, and you'll likely experience similar frustrations with an EX flash. Potential compatibility issues with future versions of E-TTL are a legitimate concern.

The Sigma units don't seem to have that problem. The EX has more features that can justify the price difference, if you take advantage of them. Good luck with your new flash!
