I can't wait for the new version 5 coming in June. Thanks for this app. Visible-Evidence Nov 22 This feels clunky and to me. RogerKatz May 12 The latest version of LightZone is 4. Derekcurrie Jun 15 Requires Java. As such, it has a Javaesque interface. But it is somewhat integrated into OS X as well, which is very helpful. Yes, Oracle ruined Java and made it into a whopping security hole.
But Java is usually only dangerous to use over the Internet. So we should be fine using Java with LightZone. Moogan Apr 18 Support for Macs, Linux and Windows.

RawTherapee is called one of the best free alternatives to Lightroom.
The operation scheme has a lot of resemblance, for example, the ability to connect to other software to complete image editing. However, RawTherapee lacks some equally important tools that Lightroom offers: image sorting, simple interface, customizable Lightroom presets, brushes, a guide for new users, a multitude of YouTube tutorials, deep color correction features, etc.
That's why Adobe product get additional point in Lightroom vs RawTherapee battle. RawTherapee has the advantage of being free, but even though it resembles Lightroom so much, it still lacks a lot of functionality today that prevents it from competing with Lightroom.
RawTherapee and Darktable offer quite similar image editing functionality and features. Both picture editors do an excellent job with the RAW file format and have basic color correction tools, allowing access to their code and not asking money for that. However, the significant difference of Darktable vs RawTherapee can be seen after editing your first photo. Unlike RawTherapee, Darktable is more optimized.
Lags and various bugs are much less common here. Darktable has a simpler user interface and offers a wide list of guides for various color correction tools. On uploading the same number of photos Darktable needs twice much time.
Both picture editors are open source and completely free. However, GIMP is available for work online. The last distinguishing feature to mark is the popularity.
Like RawTherapee, Lightzone is open source and free. Both picture editors offer almost identical instruments and functionality, and support for RAW files, differing slightly in layout and sectioning. Yes, it's true, folks. LightZone is open-source at last! We were also able to obtain permission to use the LightZone name. In the links just below the header, you'll see a link to the source code. The old link to the LightZombie files is now labeled so. This will take a little while, so bear with us.
If you have the skillz, we'd love for you to help out. By the way, I believe that the open-source licensing agreement is for the BSD license.
I trust that Anton will correct me if I mis-speak. Just made a timely stopover here and saw this excellent news. I have very little time at the moment but may be able to help with the image processing code at some stage. Wow, so many people peeking at the LightZone code that github went down from the overload? Seriously, though, github says that this stems from some scheduled maintenance about 24 hours ago. The maintenance apparently resulted in problems all day long, and they've "shut 'er down" while they "continue to resolve the network problems.
I seem to have a knack for taking servers down just by looking at them, so didn't think much of it :]. I'd like to put in an early vote for some light lite? DAM functionality, maybe something simple using XMP or the LZ internal XMP - I like a bunch of freeform text, with the ability to search and assign keywords or whatever, to help make more formal album type collections it's been a while since using LZ.
I'm not a DAM-fan, it's just that any non-destructive editor necessarily becomes the main interface to your images except LZ's clever 'preview' jpeg system helps with with that. Is the Source code from the latest version? What is going on with licenses? That is the source code that corresponds with the final release from Light Crafts: LightZone 3.
The license keys were created by eSellerate, which provides a commercial licensing and activation service. We don't have code for generating keys. We'll be removing the code that looks for and activates keys. But right now we're working on getting the LightZone source to "build.
We're still trying to figure out what tools need to be obtained, how they need to be configured, and how to use them. There's an extra complication: LightZone having been a commercial product, some of the build tools used are rather-pricey commercial products. Can you put some kind of "log" for your building efforts? Maybe in the developers forum?
